Multicultural Action Council (MAC)
The Multicultural Action Council (MAC) is comprised of parents, students, educators, and citizens interested in facilitating communication and understanding between diverse elements of the student body, staff, and community.
The MAC mission (PDF) is to help build a compassionate community in our schools through multicultural education, awareness, and advocacy. Projects include sponsoring two multicultural awards and awarding funds to those with multicultural projects in their classrooms.
The council is a proud partner of the Lacey Cultural Celebration.

March 1, 2019 - It’s hard to find a kid who doesn’t like free pizza. It’s also hard to find teens who aren’t in need of supportive peers and trusting adults. Pizza Klatch, a support group for LGBTQ+ youth and their allies, provides both in a safe space at five secondary schools in North Thurston Public Schools and 10 more schools across Thurston County. February 22, 2019 - River Ridge High School staff recently partnered with the Nisqually Tribe for part of their professional day of training to learn more about the tribe's history and culture. Read more!
February 6, 2019 - There are a growing number of NTPS students who are using their world language skills to earn high school credit and the Washinton State Seal of Biliteracy. It was established to recognize public high school students who have attained a high level of proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in one or more world languages in addition to English, and can be attractive to future employers and college admissions officers.
