Family Education Opportunities

  • Working together with community organizations and professionals, NTPS is proud to offer educational workshops, panels and other opportunities for our families. Topics are age-based and relevant to developmental levels for our students to help parents with their part in helping our students be the best they can be. With our families and communities, we can join in being Stronger Together. See dates, times, and topics below.

Success in the Early Years (Preschoolers)

  • Please join us for a free, NTPS early learning parent education series for families of preschool and kindergarten students. The 2020-21 series will focus on Conscious Discipline. We offer door prizes, relevant content, and an opportunity to connect with other parents. Workshops take place through Zoom Meetings, on the second Wednesday of each month starting in December, running through June. For security reasons, to receive the meeting link you must first register.

Tweens & Teens (6th-12th)

  • Tweens & Teens is a parenting education series for families of middle and high school students. Each class is free and offers a chance to ask questions, and opportunities to connect with other parents/guardians. Co-sponsored by the Family Education & Support Service (FESS). Facilitators include Scott Hanauer, Clinical Director of FESS, and Barbara Coloroso an internationally recognized speaker and author of Kids are Worth It! Registration below. Meeting the 4th Wednesday, January through May 6 to 8pm via remote webinar.

    • January 27 — Trauma & Resiliency: Learn strategies to build resiliency, how to build support strategies, and the power of empathy and gratitude
    • February 24 — Parenting Through Crisis: Learn strategies to help youth find a way through grief and sorrow during difficult times
    • March 24 — Managing Technology: Learn about how technology positively or negatively impacts youth functioning and respect, power, and boundaries
    • April 28 — Healthy Family Communication: Learn more about how effective use of words can create a climate of love, acceptance, hope, and support for families
    • May 26 — Behavior & Discipline: Learn strategies to assure accountability, empathetic listening, and how to address feelings of stress, anxiety, and sadness
