Welcome to the South Bay Elementary's First Grade Team Page! Please see general information about 1st grade. Don't forget to check out other sections of our page for Summer Learning Links as well as the Remote Learning Plans for May-June.
Homework
Please read for 20 minutes each night, practice math facts, and look for any additional work your child might not have finished in class. Other first grade homework includes playing outside, eating dinner with your family (if you can) and getting a good night's sleep. Please contact your child's teacher for more information.
Volunteering
To volunteer at South Bay, you must fill out an application. Learn more about volunteering
Communication
North Thurston Public Schools utilizes a communication system called School Messenger. Parent contact information, including phone number, email address, cell phone, etc., are obtained from Student Records and used to send messages from schools and teachers through phone calls, emails, and text messages. Teachers also have access to the system to interact with parents via the School Messenger App & Website.
School & District messages include:

- Attendance reports
- General announcements

Parent e-Learning Tips and Videos
We are in this together! As we continue with remote learning, we wanted to provide additional support for you as you assist your children with their lessons. We are stating with math tutorials. Each week, we will post videos for parents to explain the purpose of each math lesson, how it ties into previous learning, and the expected student outcomes for each lesson.
