  • Summer break at North Thurston Public Schools is June 20th through September 3th, 2019. The first day of school for students is September 4th, 2019. During the break, services are limited - school offices have specific summer hours, as does the district office. Please see below for more information. Keep your academic skills sharp this summer, but enjoy your break! We are excited to see you in the fall!

    • Monday-Friday, 7 AM - 3:30 PM the last day of school through August 9th
    • Starting August 12, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM

    Individual School Office Hours

    School offices are closed for the majority of the break, but are open up to a month before school starts to serve you. Please check your school's website for specific dates and times.

    Enrollment is different dependent on the grade your child is in. Please see the New Student Enrollment page for more information.

    Summer School

    NTPS's Summer School option, or Credit Retrieval, had a registration deadline at the end of June 2019. See the Summer School pages for more information.

    Summer School (Credit Retrieval)

    Summer Meal Program

    Brought to you by NTPS, Lacey, Lakes, Lydia Hawk and Timberline host a free summer breakfast/lunch program. More information is available on the Food Services Summer Lunch page. Thurston County Food Bank also offers free lunches in areas throughout the county. Visit their website.
     

    Lacey Parks Day Camps & Playground Pals

    Lacey Parks & Recreation runs day camps at our schools (for those that register) and a completely free afternoon supervised playground program called Playground Pals. Information can be found on the Lacey Parks & Recreation website.
     

    Thurston Together! Community Clubhouse

    Thurston Together runs a grant-funded Clubhouse out of Lydia Hawk, Meadows, and Pleasant Glade elementaries plus Chinook and Nisqually middle schools. Participation is free, but you must fill out an application. More information & applications are on their website.
     

    Childcare

    South Sound YCare: The YMCA runs a childcare program out of two of our schools in the summer: Chambers Prairie Elementary and Seven Oaks Elementary. More information is available on the South Sound YMCA website.
     

    YMCA Power Scholars

     For low-income children in grades 2-5, the Power Scholars Academy focuses on reading and math, all made possible from donations to the YMCA. More information on the South Sound YMCA website.

    Operation Backpack

    Operation Backpack is a community-wide effort to help families with school supplies and backpacks. Backpacks will be distributed as needed through individual school Counselors and Intervention Specialists at the start of school. Please be sure to contact your school if you are in need of supplies.     Free Immunization Clinics

    Free clinics coming up during Little Red Schoolhouse and other places throughout the community in August and September. Bring your child's previous immunization records (if available), no pre-registration necessary, immunizations available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Dates: August 15, 22, and September 21.     Little Red Schoolhouse

    School supplies and clothing will be distributed to all families in need on Thursday, August 15, 2019 from 8 AM to 6 PM in the Komachin Middle School parking lot. Each child will be able to choose a backpack filled with school supplies (based on individual lists), and a gently used or new coat, socks, and underwear. Families should plan on spending several hours at the event as it is usually crowded. Visit the Little Red Schoolhouse website for more information.

    SmileMobile

    The SmileMobile, a mobile dental office, visits our District in the summer. Please check back for dates and information on making appointments!
