About Our School

Lacey Elementary, known as the “round school”, is the center of the community it serves. Named after O. C. de Lacey, a realtor and attorney at the turn of the twentieth century, the school was once located on the site of today's Safeway grocery store. The one room schoolhouse moved to its current neighborhood in 1968, two years after Lacey was incorporated as a city, and is now one of thirteen elementary schools in the North Thurston Public Schools district. Although the building is modernized, Lacey continues to represent the traditional values of the community by carrying on the name of the original school in the area.

Lacey's faculty believes in a principles-based system that values community, life-long learning, and citizenship. We are proud of the progress our students have made in the areas of reading, math, and writing. This progress is a result of the team effort of our students, parents, volunteers, and talented staff.

Mission Statement:

Our purpose is to guide all students in a positive environment toward becoming life-long learners and contributing members of a changing world.
