  • Student Voice: Reflections on Green Congress

    April 18, 2019 - Every year, nearly 350 student delegates (3rd through 12th grade) attend the Student GREEN Congress at the Evergreen State College and share water quality monitoring data they have collected throughout the school year. With hands-on activities and presentations, they learned how to protect and restore their local waterways. "I learned that things in my everyday life were polluting the oceans and waters that I love so much... my experience at Evergreen was amazing, and I am glad I got the opportunity to go," said a Komachin student.   • Music in Our Schools: Orchestra teacher Tonni Johnston shares her love of music at 4 schools

    April 18, 2019 - A love for music was stirred inside Orchestra teacher Tonni Johnston when she was just in second grade which was the start of a lifelong pursuit of music through teaching. “Music helps us think, helps us create, and helps us grow,” said Johnston. “It's really rewarding to watch students experience the challenges, fun, and friendships that the musical learning process brings.” Learn more about Tonni!
