If you are a Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, or other father figure, we would love for you to spend a day as a Watchdog at Lacey!
The two main goals of the WatchDOGS (Dads of Great Students) Program are:
To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.
Watchdogs are asked to spend one whole school day per school year (or more if you’d like) volunteering at our school. During your Watchdog day, you will: spend time in your students’ classroom; eat lunch with your student and enjoy recess with them; volunteer in a variety of classrooms and interact with all ages of students; and patrol the hallways, parking lot, and campus passing out light purple paws for good behavior and assisting with security. Watchdogs are asked to keep their cell phones handy to communicate with the office and emergency personnel if necessary. Watchdogs will be making sure visitors on campus have checked in with the office and have a guest badge on during their patrols, so please remember to stop by the office and sign in during school hours.
To sign up: Stop by the office and pick up the Watchdog packet. Fill out the volunteer form for the WSP background check and the Watchdog registration form provided in the packet and turn them back in to the office. When the background check has cleared, I will contact you to schedule a day to come and volunteer as a Watchdog! Please contact me if you have any questions.
Thanks to all the wonderful WatchDOGS we have had volunteering at Lacey!
