Sign up for school-closure/delay e-mail notification. Please remember that road conditions vary in different parts of Thurston County, and that neighboring school districts make their own decisions about whether to run their schools late or cancel school.
For information about our district as well as other school districts, visit's website.

Snow and Ice
If there is snow on the ground in the morning, or the roads seem dangerously icy, school may start 2 hours late or be canceled.
Those decisions will be made, and available to the public by 6:00 a.m. The information can be found on our website, at, on local news and radio stations (listed below) as well as the districts 24-Hour Information Line (360-412-4401).

If no television or radio announcements are made, then our schools are operating normally.

Ice & Snow Route Information
Once snow routes are activated, they will remain in effect the entire school day. If we run on snow routes in the AM, we will also run on snow routes in the PM regardless of the conditions.
Any changes from this will be posted on the 24-Hour Information Line, local radio, and local/Seattle area television stations.

What about snow on Early Release Days?
  • School starts two hours later than the normal start time, and dismisses at the normal time. For example, high school would start at 9:30, middle school would start at 11:20, and elementary would start at 10:15, 10:20, 10:30, 10:45 or 10:55, with no morning kindergarten. Afternoon Kindergarten will start at normal time.
  • If we have to run 2 hours late on an early release day, all school schedules revert to normal school-day schedules.
  • When school is canceled, most after-school activities, such as sports, are canceled, as well. This decision is determined by district administration. If you have questions about an after school activity being canceled please feel free to contact Transportation or your schools main office.
