"First, I'd like to  say that I saw myself when I was younger going through elementary school.  That aside, the one thing that stuck out most was during a fourth grade class a little girl came up to me and said, "You know why your name is GT?" (short for Grof-Tisza)....it's because you're a Great Teacher.  Kids are awesome."

Seven Oaks Elementary School is now implementing the WATCH D.O.G.S. program.  It’s a program through fathers.com aimed at increasing male involvement in children’s school lives. The Father’s job is to help supervise, eat with the kids, participate in the school day, tutor and overall just be a part of what takes place at Seven Oaks.  Dean of Students, Angie DeAguiar, has spearheaded its implementation at Seven Oaks.

The evening of September 23rd Seven Oaks held its kickoff event and it was a huge success.  There were over 450 attendees, 200 plus were dads.  That’s 200 plus men showing up to support their children in school.  After a group pizza dinner, the children left and were supervised by staff in classrooms.  Thirty minutes was then spent talking with dads about the benefits of committing to the program.  By the end of the night there were 76 days of the school year where a father had committed to spending an entire day as a WatchDOG.  Several fathers signed up to do more than one day, so the net result was nearly 100 days of dads on campus with more to come.
