Most students will be able to complete work assigned in class during the school day. However, any work not completed should be taken home and finished, it is due the next day.
The purpose of regularly assigned homework is to provide review and practice of skills taught in class, and to teach students responsibility. On the average, third grade students should expect to spend about thirty minutes a night on homework. Students will receive a homework packet each Monday containing the homework for the week. The packet is due to be returned on Friday. If a student is absent during the week he/she will be given additional time to complete the packet, if needed.
Any student who does not return classwork or homework when it is due will be expected to complete it before going out to recess. Emergencies do happen, an extension will be given if a parent sends a note or email asking for one.
Students receive a "Homework Completion" grade on their report cards each quarter, which will be determined by the number of homework assignments completed successfully and on time during the quarter.
