![]() Have you filled a bucket today? The book, Have You Filled a Bucket Today?, explains to children that we all carry an invisible bucket in which we keep our feelings about ourselves. When our buckets are full, we are happy; when they are empty, we are sad. As part of our Character Education efforts, it's important for students to know that we can fill our own bucket and so can others.

Upcoming Levy...
Levies are for learning NTPS education program levy up for renewal in 2010 Thanks to voter support of the 2008 replacement education programs levy, North Thurston Public Schools received about $49 million in local funding for 2009 and 2010 to assist in the daily operation of our schools, including quality staffing and programs that help improve and sustain student learning. The levy directly supports teaching and learning in ALL classrooms. Next year this levy expires, much like a magazine subscription, and citizens in our district will be asked again in February to vote on this replacement levy which makes up an estimated 19 percent of our budget. Staffing cost account for 85 percent of our total budget. That said, districts are limited by how much they can request from local levies. Most public school districts are limited to a maximum amount of 24 percent of their state allocated budget - even if there are state and federal budget cuts to education. We encourage voters to educate themselves about the levy, attend board meetings and ask questions. For more information go to www.nthurston.k12.wa.us/budget. |
