Warrior Ecology (A.K.A., WE) is a service-learning club dedicated to environmental issues.

The club is open to all currently enrolled students of Chinook Middle School. The aim of WE is to expand students' understanding of sustainability and environmental stewardship through projects aimed at improving the environment of the Chinook campus and our local community.

During WE's first year, 2009-2010, students members started a school vegetable garden, added indoor plants to the school building, and began rehabilitating our campus 'forest' by removing invasive plants. For the 2011-2012 school year, WE students will expand the school garden, continue the forest rehabilitation, and develop and implement procedures for reducing landfill-bound wastes from our campus - like compost food waste from the cafeteria. In addition, WE students will be encouraged to participate in the environmental projects of other community organizations, like People for Puget Sound and Thurston County Conservation.

Students interested in joining WE should contact the club advisor, Mr Nelson, in room 201.
