Scholarships
Many scholarships are offered throughout the year; some for specific colleges and universities and others for specific educational pursuits. Scholarship information is available in the Counseling Center. Mrs. Allsup will assist you with your scholarship search. At the beginning of the year you will be asked to complete a senior survey during Advisory. If you have not done so, download the file below, complete the form and return it to the counseling center. This enables Mrs. Allsup to notify you of the scholarships that best meets your needs. The Scholarship list is sent to your student access once a week - make sure to check for it on a regular basis. Washington Student Scholarships is the largest scholarship database on the web. This is an excellent site to check out scholarships. In addition it answers career questions, includes videos and career and salary information.
Cappex.com is giving away thousands in scholarships for college. Some of their most popular scholarships include "A GPA Isn't Everything," "I Don't Want to Pay for College" and "Cutting Edge Careers." To apply, simply fill out a free profile, visit the Scholarships tab and click Apply. Scholarships will be given to student with well-rounded profiles, so don't hold back on the details. This site also provides a great deal of information on types of scholarships, how and where to search, scholarship for different degrees, ethnic backgrounds and the list goes on.

The WashBoard.Org This is a free, web-based non-profit scholarship clearinghouse for Washington students seeking college scholarships. There are over 200 active scholarship providers from across the state registered on WashBoard.org. These will result in over 13 million dollars in scholarship awards to Washington students. All of your profile answers are confidential and are not shared. Below are helpful guidelines that will help you get the best scholarship matches available. Complete as much of your profile as possible. Your scholarship matches are based on the information you enter on your profile. Also, keep your profile up to date.
ABOUT ME tab: At the bottom of the page, you are asked if you identify with or have any of the personal attributes listed. There are specific scholarships attached to these categories. If they don't apply to you, indicate N/A (not applicable).
Be sure to select all of the two and four year institutions that you are considering. There are a number of scholarships for students who are committed to attend or are attending a specific school and if those schools are in your profile, you will see those scholarships in your matches.
Financial Need Tab: Don't forget to indicate the type of support that you are looking for - tuition, room and board, transportation, etc.
Review your list of scholarship matches carefully. A scholarship may have a name that is misleading. Make sure that you read all of the eligibility requirements for the scholarships in your list. For example, the Negro College Fund can award scholarships to students who aren't from an ethnic minority, but who do have financial need.

This is the most comprehensive list available and is intended to serve students as they prepare for the college application and financial aid process. This is an excellent resource for students looking for scholarships.

Tips for Scholarships
- Apply only if you are eligible.
Follow directions and completely fill out the application.
Neatness counts.
Make sure that your essay makes an impression.
Note application deadlines: pay attention to whether the date is received by or postmarked by.
Proof your application.
Ask for help if you need it.
Ask for your recommendation letters and transcripts in advance.
