Mr. Hatch

Dear Mt. View families,

Welcome back and to those new to Mt. View…Welcome!…we’re glad you are here!  We are excited to begin the 2012-2013 school-year and continue the Mt. View tradition of excellence in education.

You may have noticed a recent front page article in the Daily Olympian newspaper featuring a story about the North Thurston School District achieving above average scores on the state-required 3rd- 6thgrade Measurement of Student Progress (MSP). I’m proud to say that Mt. View contributed greatly to that success.  Our students (your children) scored above the state average in every exam at every grade-level!  Because of parents like you, who value education and support your child at home, because of the highly accomplished staff at Mt. View and because our students take their education seriously, we continue to have results that beat the odds!

To begin this school-year, I’m happy to introduce two new Kindergarten teachers to the Mt. View family; Mrs. King (A.M.) and Mrs. Hughes (A.M./P.M.).  Also, I would like to congratulate P.E. Specialist, Mrs. Steen (’11-’12 Teacher of the Year), for being awarded the Parent-Teacher Association’s (P.T.A.) Golden Acorn award.

In other great news, I’m happy to welcome back librarian Mrs. Schofield and say congratulations to Lindsay Chong (Art Specialist) and Timmy Vo (former 3rd gr. student of Mrs. Hurtado).  Timmy’s art was chosen to be featured in the school-district calendar (July)!

Mt. View staff have been at school for several weeks preparing to welcome your child(ren) and, with your help, make this school year the best ever!  I sincerely hope you will consider joining PTA, supporting their new playground equipment fundraiser and/or volunteering at school as much as possible.  Research shows children are more successful at school when their parents play a visible role in their education.  Thanks for doing what you can and continuing to support Mt. View.

“It’s great to be a Mt. View Mountain Lion!”

Take care,

Kurt Hatch
