Mission Statement

The goal of South Bay Elementary, in partnership with the community, is to foster learning in a positive, exciting way so students achieve their fullest potential. Creativity is nurtured, individuality is respected and each child gains a feeling of self-worth and accomplishment.

Our Students

The students at South Bay School are frequently commended for their positive attitude towards learning and the respect and courtesy shown towards staff, peers and guests. Our students reside in the northeast corner of Thurston County with close to 90% of them riding school buses. Although economically diverse, our students blend to form a learning environment full of challenges and acceptance.

Our School

South Bay Elementary is a large school with a small school atmosphere. Our present enrollment is approximately 650 students, ranging from kindergarten to sixth grade. Staff and students enjoy and benefit from an extremely active and supportive community. Parents are highly involved in volunteer activities at South Bay. Our Community South Bay School is known for its parent involvement, supportive community and well-funded, active PTA. We are very fortunate to have over 200 parent volunteers. As a group, they average 600 hours per month in the classroom, field trip supervision and staff support programs. South Bay PTA sponsors and supports a wide variety of activities from academic enhancement, cultural enrichment and technology support, to social community-building activities and athletic endeavors. These provide parents and students with many opportunities to participate. South Bay enjoys regular and varied support from both parents and business community in the form of donations of time, products, services, and finances.
