Growing Better Than Ever!
Did you know that Olympic View enrollment reached 739 students recently? We are a full school! While being a larger school presents challenges, it also enables the benefit of being an Olympic View Eagle to be enjoyed by more children.
Olympic View is different by design. Every choice we make - from curricular decisions to playground activities - is centered around what is best for our students. When faced with tough decisions in lean financial times, we ask, "How can we make the best decision for the greatest positive student impact?"
Parents and community members notice this difference. I've lost track of the number of times I've been told, "This school is a great place. I could feel it as soon as I walked through the door!" Many of our military families have told me that in all their moves around the globe, they have never had the kind of strong education and welcoming atmosphere that Olympic View provides. Kids, parents, and staff members love to be here.
Of course, we are far from perfect. While we aim for greatness for the benefit of our children, at times we fall short. This, too, is a lesson for us and for our students: whenever we fail, we don't need to lose heart. We simply pick ourselves up and try harder next time. As we work to maximize student achievement, and as we redouble our efforts to provide strong customer service, we appreciate your patience and kind, constructive advice.
A student recently shared with me how his behavior and academics have improved. As he discussed this with a well-earned sense of pride, I asked, "Are you just getting better at it, or are you working harder?" Is it innate talent, or is it hard work? He answered as I had hoped, "I'm working harder!" This child is already discovering one of life's keys to success: diligent work pays off.
This is our renewed commitment. We may be a big school, but we are not losing sight of what it takes to be a great school. When we couple a caring approach with hard work, we grow better than ever.
Proud to be your principal,
