Please work on counting with your child daily. Understanding numbers and their relationships ( knowing that three is two more then one and that five is four more then one) is very important. It is expected that your child be able to count to 100 by the end of the year. Spend time orally counting and counting objects. Ask your child questions about numbers;" if I have five beans and take two away how many would I have"? " Is five bigger then three"? " How do you know"? Learning to count by 5's and 10's and understanding numbers is a key skill taught in kindergarten. You can help by counting daily. Work on counting to 100. Count backwards, count forwards, have fun and count. Think about what you can count, cars in a parking lot, beans in the kitchen, toys in a room, windows on a house, trees in the yard.
