The River Ridge girls and boys track teams had a great meet at Washougal last Friday for the District Championships. Brad Wallace was recognized as the 2A State boys basketball player of the year by Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association. Click the bold headline to learn more.TRACK & FIELD NEWS!! On Saturday, March 16th, the River Ridge Hawks track teams were in action and the rain and wind invitational……also known as the Icebreaker. The boys team won the 23 school invite with a 10 year high in points with 95. DeJuan Frye was the highlight reel as he ran the 100 meters in a fully automatic 10.99 which is a state best time and the 200 meters in 22.72which is the 2nd best time in state. He also anchored the boys 4 x 100 meters to a winning time of 45.57. Other event winners were senior Wesley Coats in the triple jump, sophomore Ika Morton in the longjump. Tyrell Chisholm chipped in with a 2nd in the high jump as did Daniel Montesa in the Pole Vault. On the girls side the highest placing Hawks was Rachel Eshenbaugh who placed 2nd in the 800 and Joely Manning who placed 3rd in the 400. Saturday was like an episode on Survivor and our kids were up to the challenge. Hawk pride is STATE wide. GIRLS BASKETBALL NEWS!! RRHS Girls Basketball goes to State!!! Girls Basketball will compete at State at the Yakima Sun Dome February 28 - March 2. Good-luck ladies!! River Ridge defeats Burlington 46-44 2/28/13 to advance the State semi-finals against #1 ranked Mark Morris. WF West also advanced giving our district 3 out of the 4 final spots. Go Hawks!
